Tertel petroduric / duripan
some time ago I get a little gift, where rocks and minerals came from the north of Chile, more specifically of Vallenar. I've never seen this piece, I looked like a cluster by its basic form, but more than that nothing, but I bring the picture of this show called "Tertel" name for this horizon calcaceo Chileno.
Well some define it as basic as, "hard soil layer is very shallow when hinders root development of vegetation." He classifies
soil horizons as petroduric
is a horizon, known as duripan, reddish cemented by silica. The pieces of this horizon (very strong to extremely strong) are not undone by including them in water. In his reliefs
there are two sectors, a valley formed by different levels of terraces in the most recent alluvial origin, and other foothill colluvial slopes somewhat significant. Within the valleys disappear distinguished only the valley terraces and foothills. Variable soil depth, good permeability and subsurface limestone present in some sections of rough or Tertel (duripan). The vineyards can be found up to 1,500 m / s / n / m.
